Cornell's Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management runs Cornell's flagship two-year MBA and the highly regarded one-year Cornell Tech MBA in New York City. Both accept GMAT and GRE.
Johnson MBA — GMAT Benchmarks
| Metric | Score |
|---|---|
| Median GMAT (overall class) | ~685 – 700 |
| Middle 80% range | 640 – 740 |
| Competitive GMAT for Indian applicants | 710 – 750 |
Cornell Tech MBA (One-Year, NYC)
| Metric | Score |
|---|---|
| Median GMAT | ~700 – 715 |
| Competitive Range | 720 – 760 |
Cornell Tech's tech-focused, one-year format draws a smaller, more quantitatively selective applicant pool than the flagship Ithaca programme.
GMAT vs. GRE at Johnson
Johnson accepts both equally, with roughly a third of admitted students submitting GRE in recent cycles. Applicants targeting consulting or finance recruiting often lean GMAT for its stronger signal to those recruiters; GRE is common among applicants also applying to non-business graduate programmes.
GMAT Is Separate From English Proficiency
A GMAT score does not satisfy Cornell's English language requirement. International applicants still need TOEFL or IELTS:
| Requirement | Cornell Policy |
|---|---|
| GMAT | 685–700 median; 710–750 competitive for Indian applicants |
| TOEFL | Required — see our Cornell TOEFL Requirements guide |
| IELTS | Required — see our Cornell IELTS Requirements guide |
