Oxford does not require the GRE for the majority of its Master's programmes — UK-style admission based on academic transcript, references, and (for many programmes) a written test or sample is standard. A number of Oxford's quantitative and DPhil (PhD) programmes, however, do request GRE scores.
Does Oxford Require the GRE?

| MSc Financial Economics | Often required |

What Oxford Evaluates for Most Other Programmes
| Factor | Weight |
|---|
| Undergraduate degree classification (First/2:1) | Primary factor |
| Academic references and personal statement | High |
| Written work sample (many Humanities/Social Sciences programmes) | Often required in place of a test score |
| English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL) | Mandatory, separate requirement |
